Olympian Michelle Gibson Joins Team Matrix
Olympic dressage rider Michelle Gibson is the latest high-performance competitor
to join Team Matrix. Based in Wellington, Florida at Diamante Farm, Gibson
is one of America's leading dressage riders and trainers.
Just this past June, Gibson was crowned as America's National Intermediaire
Dressage Champion at the 2008 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions
in San Juan Capistrano, California. It was there that she met Matrix Vice President
Keith Manfred and learned all about the nutritional benefits of the Matrix
for both her and her horses.
"I spoke with Keith about the Matrix and found it to be very interesting," Gibson
said. Hence, she tried it on a few of her horses and found "that it really
does help them to be more focused and more at ease in training."
Gibson is now a true believer in the Matrix and said "I'm excited about
joining the Matrix Equine Team. Everyone involved with the Matrix has been
a pleasure to work with and they have a fantastic product." The Matrix
is just as excited about having Gibson on the team.
"We're really pleased that Michelle has chosen to come on board as a
Matrix Equine Team member," said Matrix Vice President Keith Manfred. "Michelle
is not only a fabulous rider and trainer who has represented American dressage
in international competition, but she is also a wonderful person. We really
look forward to working with her as a Team Matrix member."
Gibson's recent national title was earned with the help of Don Angelo, an
eight-year-old Oldenburg stallion owned by Terri Kane of Diamante Farms. A
native of Maryland, Gibson was raised in Georgia so perhaps it was only fitting
that she should have been a member of the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team when the
Olympics were held in Atlanta. Gibson and her equine partner at the Olympics,
Peron, helped the U.S. win the Bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
In the course of her dressage career, Gibson has spent time in Germany training
with some of the best trainers of the modern era, among them Willie Schultheis
and Rudolf Zeilinger. After her Olympic success, Gibson returned home to Georgia
and then later relocated to Florida where she has built a solid reputation
as a leading American trainer and rider. With a current string of top horses
in her barn, combined with her talent, Gibson is sure to continue to be a force
in international dressage in the coming years.
Produced by Golden Gourmet Mushrooms of San Marcos, California, the Matrix is
a special blend of organically-grown medicinal mushrooms that comes in formulas
for humans, small animals and horses. Among riders and trainers who have joined
up with Team Matrix – as the group of equestrian Matrix promoters are called – are
dressage couple Shannon and Steffen Peters; leading dressage trainers Willy
Arts and Jennifer Hoffmann; Canadian Olympic rider Jacqueline Brooks; Jane Hannigan,
who represented the U.S. in the Dressage World Cup this spring; Carl Nafzger,
trainer of Kentucky Derby winners Street Sense and Unbridled; leading California
show jumping riders Will Simpson and Susan Hutchison and U.S. Equestrian Federation
Young Horse Coach Scott Hassler and his wife, Susanne.
